Thief nowadays don’t cut padlock. They cut the “ear”. That is so much thinner, softer, and easier.
Sometimes they don’t even cut it. They just take a plyer or screwdriver to yank it, and the ear itself will come-off.
That’s why we recommend to install a padlock armor, or padlock hasp protection if you have a grille. Padlock protector is either wrapped completely around the grille, or bolted through from the front of the grille till the back. So if your want to yank the hasp, your need to tear apart the whole grille structure which is definitely much much more harder.
Both type has their pros and cons depends on grille condition. To determine the best suitability, at least some photo view is needed. Even better if a locksmith can have a site visit to see the grille with our own eyes. That will be the best. Only then we can recommend the best type of padlock protection.
How about you? Do you use have some padlock “ear” to be secured?
