    Digital lock is an electronic or battery-operated lock that does not require the use of mechanical keys to enter. And it works with the use of any of the following way: cards, Pin codes, fingerprints, Smartphones, Key or Face recognition.

    And as digital lock is fastly become a choice to use, for this we need to know that what type of door can we use for digital lock, and also the thickness of the door.

    There 4 types of door that we can use for digital lock, that is Glass door, wooden door, security door, and grille door.

    Meanwhile, for the door thickness is between 38mm and above.

    But what is the door thickness is between 35mm to 40mm?Well, actually this standard door thickness is considered thin.

    if you insist to use mortise lock and this mortise lock can weakens your door structure due to a big “sandwich” hole in the middle of the door.

    So, what type of digital lock that we can use for this type of door thickness?

    For this, there are 4 Types of digital lock, which is Deadbolt lock, Rim lock, Push pull lock and Handle lock.

    And for this type of door thickness (35mm), Rim lock is best choice to use as you don’t need to make extra hole on your door and can act as additional lock.

    Handle locks have semi auto function, as you need to grab the handle and pull the handle in upwards direction in order to double lock it.

    Along with it, Push pull lock is design for you to just push or pull your door without the need to turning your door knob.

    Meanwhile, deadbolt lock is a solid lock cylindrical lock that made of steel, bronze or brass.

    By the same token, you also need to consider of what types of battery that you can use in order to keep you digital lock last longer as digital lock motherboard is very sensitive.

    So, what types of battery we can use for digital lock?

    Alkaline battery or lithium type of battery is the only battery that we can use for digital lock. For example Energizer battery. So DO NOT use Heavy Duty battery for your digital lock as this type of battery can damage your digital lock,

    What is the reason? The reason is:

    1. The batteries are usually designed for the continuous power consumption of the devices. Such as flashlight, Portable radio, clock and etc. Not suitable for digital door lock
    2. Cause a lot of trouble. Such as leaking the battery acid thus damaging the motherboard.
    3. Designed for constant use, not to be kept inside any device for power standby.
    4. Cheaper but deadly to digital door lock.

    So like the picture above, this is what happens when you insist to use heavy duty battery to your digital door lock.

    The battery price is cheaper than alkaline battery, but could a deadly problem to you.

    Such as, your lock will started to have a problem, and then you will see the battery will leak it acid and if you not quickly remove the battery, the acid will from the battery will damage your motherboard.

    This aspect actually depends on the locking bolt. Essentially, digital door lock is using the same locking bolt with mechanical lock.

    Digital door lock is actually a mechanical lock, added on with electronic parts and gear to control the locking bolt. So digital deadbolt is still a deadbolt lock. Digital mortise lock is still a mortise lock.

    One time, we receive a text messages from one customer asking us to go and have a look at their digital lock and as we arrive at their house, we were shock to see their lock being install like that.

    It look so messy and unprofessional. How can you just install and leave it just like that. If it is your own house of course you want to make it beautifully and neatly so same goes with other people house. And it also can show you on what level of professional work you are.

    If you do install lock like the picture above, you not only damage their digital lock but also their door as the lock is install in an unfit position and ugly looking.

    Why did I say that. you can further look at the picture below.

    poor work make lock become non-durable.

    As you can see on the first Photo, that the wire is not being adjusted properly. The wire is not suppose to be at the outside of the lock as it was suppose to be on the inside of the door.

    Next, picture 2 you can see how messy and how rough the results for the strike plate mortise.

    On Picture no.3 is the door condition after the digital lock is being remove. Got cracks on the door due to improper Drillbits.

    Picture no 4 shows the damages wire and essential terminal due to improper installations.

    So as you can see, this is what you get when you ask for untrained installer to installer your digital lock. Its cheap but risky
