    Just a strong padlock is not enough.

    Yes we do need a good padlock. But that’s just half the battle.

    Padlock hasp (so called padlock-eye or padlock-ear) also needs to be strong. In this case it gets cut-off. But also in many cases it just get ripped of from the welded part.

    There are best way to have a really strong hasp is:

    • Get a non-welded hasp. Available in many locksmith store, either clamped type or rivetted type. This will prevent rip-off attack. Also must be made of hardened steel. If just made of mild steel, it still can prevent rip-off attack, but can’t prevent the cut attack. Hardened steel cannot be easily cut or saw-ed.

    Again and again there will be situation where some fittings like screws, shaft, plate will not fit perfectly to the installation.

    It will make your door looks ugly and unpresentable. What can we do?

    We have to beg a factory to custom made or cut some special size item for you. 1 unit custom item only. On our part, we need to measure, draw using AutoCAD, test-size precision has to be up to 0.5mm for locks, and send to factory. All this work for 1 item, specially made for you.

    But what is the result? A perfect fit installation, looks aesthetic, nice and strong. 

    Why do we go such a distance? Main reason is because we take pride in our works. We feel embarrassed to share a photo of an unpresentable finishes.

    Will any salesman or other seller do that? I doubt it highly.

    Thief or Robbers break into house via various method. But by far the most common is just simply kick in, or use pry bar to pry in. 

    Both method targets to break apart door frame, or the second door leaf for double leaf door.

    If you go to hardware shop or ask any contractor, they will tell you this: “if they wana break in, they will break in anyway”

    This is a very ignorant statement in our view. If that is true, why lock your door in the first place? Why grille? Why use good quality lock? Simply get the cheapest RM 9 lock for all of your door.

    Those who utter the statement simply don’t have the knowledge and expertise to secure a door.

    For a locksmith, given you have a good door, we do have ways to make sure a door certainly cannot and impossible to be kicked in, or to be pried in. 

    With a good door, we have the skill to make sure that the only way of breaking in is by ramming a car into the door at high speed, or use an axe to slowly chop apart the whole door.

    This is an expansive (almost RM20,000) extra thick double door with grand architrave. 

    We want to make the smallest hole possible, to maintain the strength of the door to the max. 

    Those 4 small holes are not usual installation. The standard way is 1 big 65mm diameter round circular which is easier and faster to make. 

    But if we make 4 small split holes, the door will be stronger. It takes longer time and accuracy for us, but that’s what we want for this owner.

    Stainless Steel 304 Grade or Brass are the most desirable material for door handle. Cheaper material such as Zinc Alloy, usually priced at half of Stainless Steel, but the strength and surface is not durable.

    Coupled with a good mortise and key cylinder, this combination will last longer than the door itself. 

    However, to sustain against brute force attack, it needs another auxiliary locks. A partner to fight against burglar. Locks are pretty much like human. Alone you will fall. Together you will stand. 

    Are there at least 2 good locks for your main door? Then you can sleep soundly. Burglar will move to your neighbour.

    We have plenty of variation of stealth deadbolt in our store. Yet this is the finest type. And hard to find one in Malaysia.

    98% of half deadbolt is using some plastic stuff inside (shown here the plate in the centre). You try to name it, Yale, Posse, St Guchi, Milano, etc, all is plastic parts inside. 

    Only this specific model is strong metal part inside.

    Locked out (actually locked-in, or trapped) in the toilet. For 2 hours. Then someone pass through the window, she manage to get the passerby attention to give us a call.

    Need unlock the front door all the way into the toilet (but not much, only 2 deadbolt in the way, and finally the toilet lock rust till the latch stuck/jam. Need to totally destruct it.

    Think twice before buying cheap lock. Not only lock you out, but lock you in too.

    Roller Shutter locks are commonly used. But might be tricky to find one replacement. 

    Majority are not build to last forever. They are quite cheap, cost below RM20. There are good one also, cost more, can be master keyed. 

    Like this we replaced in Kuching Satok area are common one. The previous lock worn out.

    This lock is not a high security lock, due to the exposed rebating. So if you are storing something expansive, you will need more than this lock.

    Perhaps padlock, or added layer of entrance door.

    This client self destruct his lock in attempt to unlock. His problem is rather complicated, which is latch jam (happens to many cheap china knob).

    Symptom of latch jam:

    • You have the key, you can turn the knob from outside, but the door still won’t open.

    Latch jam is a very complicated matter. Even for us well trained locksmith, we need one to two hour. We need to total   disassemble the knob to its smallest component. It is very labour intensive.

    If you just lost the key and don’t want to pay for locksmith key, there is still possibility that you can knock the lock and unlock. But if latch jam, don’t even think about it.
